Benanova has established proof of concept for a novel technology for bench scale cost-efficient fabrication of polymer soft dendritic colloidal (SDC) formulations for applications as advanced porous coatings and finishes for conventional textiles. Depending on the type of polymer from which the formulation is made the resulting finishes can be either superhydrophilic or superhydrophobic. Both types of coatings are ultra-thin and porous and adhesion to the underlying textile substrate is extremely strong. SDC-finished textiles can be readily used for face coverings with improved filtration of aerosolized viral particles to help mitigate spread of viral diseases such as COVID-19.
